Wayman Tisdale, Jonathan Butler, Kirk Whalum and I were invited
to Jakarta, Indonesia a few years ago to perform together in
a very special all-star show for the Java Jazz Festival. It was
one of Wayman's favorite trips for sure—he loved it there and
used to talk about it all the time. In light of his passing,
the festival owner, Mr. Peter Gontha forwarded me this clip of
Wayman's "Aint No Stoppin' Us Now" shot at the festival—what
better way to celebrate WT than by seeing the man in his prime--playing,
mugging, being crazy in Indonesia...didn't matter what part of
the world he was in, he was always Wayman! Enjoy, DK.
