Dave and Barry Manilow - Valentine's Day Concert, Feb. 14, 2009
I am very proud of my friendship with Barry
Manilow... and no matter whether you're a fan of his music
or not, no one can refute the fact that this guy has had
amazing relevance and sustenance in the music world for DECADES
now... and he is the consummate professional. What people
don't necessarily know, is that the guy is an unreal musician—keenly
aware of what works and what doesn't... he is so insanely
talented, whether arranging, writing hit songs, interpreting
standards (as he does in this video) or putting an entertaining
live show together.. .which he's been doing for so many years
now—his musicality is tough to top and I've learned so much
just from being around him.
Barry asked me to join him in Nassau, (Long Island, NY)
for Valentine's Night and play "My Funny Valentine" with
him—we've done it before a couple times and on TV as well...
so I was only too happy to oblige. I was thrilled when
I saw this video pop up on YouTube so we could share this
special musical moment with all those who weren't at the
concert last Saturday night. After all, shouldn't we spread
the Valentines mood into the following week anyway?!
